Restored Hope Zambia UK Annual Report For 2023-24

We have published our latest Trustees’ Annual Report and Accounts for the year ending 31 May 2024. During this period Restored Hope Zambia UK (RHZ UK) focused on strengthening fundraising and awareness in the UK, while continuing to support Restored Hope Zambia (RHZ) in delivering survivor-focused work on the ground in Zambia.

In the UK, RHZ UK:

  • Held three fundraising events (Glasgow and Bournemouth)
  • Secured six grants from Charitable Trusts
  • Raised awareness through events like the FIEC Conference and Zambia Independence Day celebrations

In Zambia, RHZ:

  • Provided counselling and legal support to survivors
  • Trained three lay counsellors in trauma-informed Christian counselling
  • Facilitated six community workshops on abuse in Chongwe and Lusaka with women and youth
  • Participated in national media during the 16 Days of Activism
  • Completed baseline research across six districts on abuse in the Church

Financially, RHZ UK raised £22,294 (up from £19,732) and spent £17,744 (down from £19,186), resulting in a surplus of £4,550 which was subsequently sent for Kumasuka Project (Breaking the Silence). This is an encouraging trend that reflects improved fundraising both in the UK and RHZ Zambia’s growing domestic income and ownership of local fundraising, reducing reliance on UK funds.

We are grateful to everyone who has given financially or volunteered their time. Thank you for your ongoing partnership in our vision of restoring hope to survivors of church-related abuse. You can read and download the full annual report and accounts HERE.
